Madingley Hall, Cambridge, 10th-14th July 2000: The Viking Age in England and Beyond - a five-day residential summer school also at Madingley Hall accredited by the University of Cambridge, exploring the history and culture of the Viking Age in England from the ninth to the eleventh centuries. That Old Testament of English history, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, shall be as our point of departure. The course will be illuminated with slides, Old English readings, and photocopies of key texts, genealogies, and maps. A mid-week excursion to related sites is planned.
